In the La Salle County court in Probate, September Term, 1871
On Wednesday the Fourth day of October A.D. 1871
1. And Now, On This Day, in said Court, comes Milton H. Swift and duly files
his Petition to the Judge of said Court, in Probate, representing that on or
about the Twenty first day of August A.D. 1871, Catherine Loyd late of the town
of Ottawa in the County of La Salle and State of Illinois, departed this life,
intestate, and so far as said Petitioner knows, or believes, or suspects, no
Will, Testament, Codicil, or other writing, relating to the disposal or
distribution of the Estate of deceased, or of any part thereof, has been found
or discoverd by Petitioner or by any other person or persons whatever, and,
That said deceased died seized and possessed of Personal Property cheifly (sic)
Notes and accounts and a small amount of Household furniture that said personal
property is worth about Fifteen Thousand dollars, That said decease left
surviving her Sarah Strawn, Lovina J. Green, Mary Ann Honaur, Ruth C. Miller,
Thos. Loyd, Washington Loyd, Marion Loyd, and Abram Loyd, her only children as
heirs at law, That said Petioner (sic) being requested writing by a majority of
the heirs of Said deceased, to act as Administrator of said Estate, Said
Petitioner therefore prays that letters of Administration be issued to himself
which Petition was duly sworn to by said Petitioner Milton H. Swift
And it is thereupon ordered that the same be filed by the Clerk of this Court.
